Ahhhh…it’s the weekend! My son doesn’t have to go to school tomorrow so I don’t have to do the morning grind. Wooohooo!

Are you looking for something fun to do? Here are some ideas to get you started!

Thursday

The National Building Museum shop is hosting a special trunk show for Peruvian-American jewelry designer Evelyn Brooks. During the show, meet the artist and see items from her collection, Designs by Evelyn Brooks. Evelyn draws much of her inspiration from Peruvian culture. The patterns in the Moschik line, featured in the Trunk Show, were inspired by the Mosche culture, a civilization which flourished in Peru between 100 and 700 AD. Evelyn’s works are only available in the Museum’s Online Shop with the exception of this special Trunk Show.

Whitlow’s on Wilson is opening their new rooftop bar on Thursday at 4pm. Perfect weather to enjoy the new bar! Live music will start at 9:30pm. Friday night, Back to Zero is playing, and Radio Mosaic is playing on Saturday night. The grand opening party for the rooftop bar will be on April 18 at 4pm hosted by The Washington Post’s Going Out Gurus.

Food Truck Thursdays is back at Chinatown Coffee Co. This week’s featured food truck, Fojol Bros, will be parked outside the shop, on the corner of 5th and H Street, NW. Customers will be able to purchase food outside and bring it into the shop to eat and enjoy some beverages. Chinatown Coffee Co. will offer $3 beer specials, in addition to a selection of wine and absinthe.

Friday

Be a part of history at Meridian Pint on Friday to be among the first to taste D.C.’s first production beer in over 50 years from DC Brau. From 5pm to 8pm, taste a pint of DC Brau’s Public Pale Ale for $4 and $5 for the rest of the evening. Meridian Pint was founded on the premise of environmental sustainability–avoiding transcontinental shipping by focusing on American craft beer.

Saturday Night Live’s hottest new impressionist, Jay Pharoah, will be at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse on Friday and Saturday nights. Pharoah, who is originally from Virginia, is lighting up the buzz with his dead on impressions of Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Will-I-am. Will he be doing the new Obama impression soon?

Jammin’ Java in Vienna has some upcoming shows that are sold out, but you can still get tickets to Friday’s performance by Graham Colton and Saturday’s performance by Robbie Schaefer of Eddie from Ohio. Saturday’s 10pm show with John Mark McMillan and both Sunday shows with Kina Grannis are already sold out.

The 12th annual Bethesda Literary Festival presents an array of local and national authors, journalists and poets, as well as writing contests and poetry contests. Enjoy fascinating literary personalities such as Michele Norris, Steve & Cokie Roberts, Gayle Tzemach Lemmon, Marie Arana and many more!

Saturday

Hank’s Oyster Bar is holding their 4th Annual Oyster Fest. Spend a Saturday feasting on all the freshly shucked oysters you can eat and then wash them down with a selection of premiere beers, including Troegs, Allagash, and Brooklyn Brewery. Cost: $75 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are not sold at the door.
