In early 2010, my parents started talking about downsizing their home some time in the future. They weren’t quite ready to leave the home they had built, but they were starting to embrace the idea of a simpler life that didn’t include taking care of a three story home and five acres. I encouraged them to sell as soon as possible which they did, and today they are grateful they heeded my advice.

With all the research I do on a daily basis, I knew that the local real estate market was going to lose more value before it hit bottom, and then it would probably be years before any substantial rise in value was seen. Had my parents waited to sell, they would not have received as much for their house.

That’s where this page comes in. My parents do not read articles about the real estate industry, study housing statistics, and view houses, on a daily basis. There is no way they would know what I know, but they had a great Realtor working for them who could guide them! This page will contain my thoughts on the future of housing so that buyers and sellers can take the educated opinions shared here to help guide them in their housing decisions. Foreclosures: Streamline not Disrupt

We have to work through these foreclosures, and we have to work through them as quickly as possible. The housing market will not fully recover until then, and the longer distressed houses stay vacant and abandoned, the more our nation is at risk for neighborhood blight. Continue reading
