firepitLabor Day weekend is always bittersweet for me; I love fall–the cool crisp nights and smell of fall leaves, but I mourn the end of summer. When my boys were still in school, I also mourned the end of mornings that weren’t rigidly scheduled. It just doesn’t seem like Labor Day to me without having friends and family over for an end of the summer BBQ.

Last night we had a few friends over. We tried Juicy Lucy’s for the first time. Yum! If you haven’t tried this cheesey, melty, hamburger, you’re missing out! We capped the night off with a fire in the firepit and s’mores. Like all buyers, there were certain characteristics we were looking for when we were searching for our next home, and a backyard that had a patio where we could sit around a firepit, while not on the “must have” list, was definitely on the “wish” list. Last night was not the first night we used the firepit, but it was the first time I realized how important the “wish” list is when looking for a home.

We bought our home assuming that we would be here for quite a while. The days of buying and turning around and selling at a profit are long gone. I’m glad we were patient and made sure we checked the items off of our “must have” list but also checked most of the items off of our “wish” list. The laughs and sticky fingers and golden brown marshmallows sure made the annual Labor Day BBQ extra special!

What is on your wish list?
