Friday

Hardcore Royal Wedding fans can watch the much-anticipated event unfold in style with a full breakfast buffet at the uber-secret O Street Mansion. Watch on the big screen while you nosh on a continental breakfast buffet (coffee/tea, fruit, baked goods and more) or full breakfast buffet (omelets, crepes, breakfast meats, waffles & more). On-line reservations required, via their website.

8th Annual Georgetown French Market: Superb shopping complimented by the scent of fresh coffee and the sounds of strolling musicians immerse the Book Hill neighborhood of Georgetown as the 8th Annual Georgetown French Market returns on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, 2011 from 10 am to 5 pm.  This event takes place along upper Wisconsin Avenue, NW, between P Street and Reservoir Road.

Hirshhorn After Hours: Catch Extreme Animals, Jacob Ciocci and David Wightman (Paper Rad, You Can’t Do That on Television), and DJ Shea van Horn tonight at the Hirshhorn After Hours from 8pm to midnight. Over the past nine years, the duo has taken its disjunctive mélange of live music, extreme feedback, YouTube bombardment, staged theatrics, and global meltdowns around the country, performing at galleries and museums and legendary underground music venues.

2011 Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival–“SNL in the Movies:” The festival returns to beautiful Gateway Park at Lee Highway near Key Bridge with an even larger screen every Friday night at dusk beginning April 29 with Bill Murray’s Groundhog Day and ending August 26.  People are encouraged to bring blankets and low chairs to picnic in the park before the show. Show up early for the pre-show games and prizes. The movies play rain or shine.

Saturday

Taste of 8th on Saturday, April 30 from 1-4pm. Barracks Row is regarded as a culinary destination, and Taste of 8th is the easiest way to sample many of our restaurants. Tickets are $5.00 for a single tasting, equivalent to a tapas or small plate portion, or five tickets for $20.00. Ticket sales benefit Barracks Row Main Street’s year-round work to maintain a clean, safe and beautiful community for residents and businesses. 20 of our finest restaurants will present tastings of their signature dishes during Taste of 8th 2011. Barracks Row Main Street looks forward to welcoming the newest restaurants on 8th Street and showcasing many of our longtime favorites.

Sunday

Top Dog Half Smoke Challenge on Sunday, May 1 at 3pm. Ten Chefs, including Domaso’s Paul Healey, The Source’s Scott Drewno, Liberty Tavern’s Liam LaCivita, and Jackson 20’s Dennis Marron, will compete by offering their own rendition of DC’s Half Smoke on a terrace over looking Georgetown. A specialty cocktail is included in your purchase price. All proceeds benefit Brain Food, an organization that teaches inner city kids cooking and life skills.

Sweetlife Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The Sweetlife Festival is an annual celebration of flavorful music, wholesome food, and thoughtful living.
